The Life Story Network (LSN) is a organisation, which works with a range of partner organisations and individuals to promote the value of using life stories to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of people and communities, particularly those marginalised or made vulnerable through ill health or disability.  The work of the LSN will provide benefit in considerably enhancing the quality of care and support delivered to individuals and communities, through embedding a human-rights based approach.


  Activities                                                   How will this benefit the community?                                   

To develop a community of interest in life story work, including for example the creation of a network of trainers in order to embed life story work in everyday practice

The community benefits by having an organization (LSN) which builds the confidence, capabilities and capacity in the knowledge and the use of life stories.  The company will bring the value of life story work to the attention of various agencies (including voluntary, statutory and private) as well as to individuals and families.

Working and trading with a broad range of individuals and organisations to promote life story work

Seeking funding through grants and contracts to develop and deliver a wide range of evidence based Life Story learning and training products and applications

The community will accrue the following benefits from these activities :

Enhanced knowledge and understanding of the needs of vulnerable people and communities through the appreciation of their respective life stories

 Support embedding a human -rights based approach which respects the individuality of each person and enhances the overall quality of care and support

 Marketing and promoting the process of life story work in everyday practice

Contributing to and influencing national policy, research and practice in particular across health and wellbeing                     

Disseminating  and delivering learning and good practice through using a range of  media  including the LSN website: www.lifestorynetwork.org.uk

Promotes and supports personalised approaches to caring practices, which minimises the need for more intrusive forms of physical or pharmacological constraints

Supports the implementation of the personalisation agenda. Facilitates and enables access to relevant training courses and materials in the use of Life Story work for communities, staff, volunteers, carers and individuals

Promotes the exchange of usable information and evidence based practice through its website, online forum and network nationally and internationally

Develop Life Story products and applications for use in spreading best practice
